Summers in Honolulu - A Photo Story

Hey lovelies! I was fortunate enough to visit the beautiful island of Oahu a few weeks back and boy, was it one of the most rewarding and unique ventures I've had. Here is a photo diary of some of the fun things I got up to and hopefully for those who are planning to visit soon or one day find some helpful tips and tricks I've learned whilst I was there.

I stayed at the Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel that was centred near the recognized Diamond Head, with a beach front view overlooking Kuhio Beach. What I loved about Waikiki is how its is very similar the style of the Las Vegas Strip. Kalakaua Avenue extends along the beach and is conveniently home to food stops, resort hotels, shopping destinations and a ton of ABC stores.

I have to say that Yelp was a go-to when it came down to looking for good recommendations on where to eat. My must tries have to be Arancino Di Mare, Marukame Udon, Ramen Bario, and Island Vintage Shave Ice to name a few. Arancino Di Mare is located at the Waikiki Beach Marriot Resort and Spa has an exceptional briefest selection. With a $4USD unlimited juice bar and affordable pricing for amazing food, we stopped by twice for breakfast on the trip (I would recommend referring to their online menu when ordering as it shows pictures). Marukame Udon is a fun place we went to for Udon and is a short walk from the International Market Place. Ramen Bario served one of the best ramen I have ever had (I honestly like it better than the ramen I had at the Momofuku Milk Bar)! One of the things I was most looking forward to was Shaved Ice, not the kind with syrup and ice, but the kind with more depth in favours and toppings; therefore, Island Vintage Shaved Ice is a must try.

While we were there, we fully took advantage over what Hawaii had to offer. I made sure that i mostly ordered specialty items that were unique to the islands itself. Macadamia nuts, ahi ahi tuna and pineapple were foods I focused on. It was my first time trying Poke (a raw marinated tuna dish) and had pizza with macadamia nuts for the first time.

From the locals I heard that there was not much diversity in the weather patterns through the year. At a comfortable 28-32 degrees Celsius, it was the perfect summer weather for me. Coming from the Vancouver/BC weather, our summer nights require a light jacket, but that was not necessary at all. We went swimming when the weather reached its peak around 3-4pm and thats when most busy at the beach.

I practically lived in these shorts for H&M, they are so flattering and go with everything. The chiffon material is light and airy, so even though it is black I was very comfortable and they were worth the buy.

Though we spent most of our time eating and wander along the Kalakaua Ave, as a history and political science nerd visiting pearl harbour and attending a luau was definitely on my bucket list.

Hawaii will never have a storage of breathtaking sights and views.

Do you have any upcoming trips? I'd love to know!

Thanks for reading!

Sincerely,
