DIY: A Simple Terrarium

If you know me, then you know that I love doing crafty projects. There is nothing more satisfying than making something on your own and having it turn out better than you imagined!

Succulents are all over Pinterest and super trendy. Not only that, succulents are very easy to take care of and I've been obsessed with making these cute little terrariums recently. They have a modern element to them, and are great for a cute accent pice to add to any coffee table.

Materials you will need:
-succulents of choice
-glass jars (mason jars) or even a white bowl would work
-rocks

There are actually really easy to make and here are the steps:

Step 1: I like to pick out succulents that look different and have different heights, this creates a bit of interest and diversity.

*Note: Make sure when picking up succulents (I picked mine up from Home Depot) that they all require the same amount of water and sunlight.

Step 2: The succulent that I bought had little baby succulents. What i love about succulents is that if you detach these babies from the main plant, they are able to survive on their own.

But wiggling the babies gently they can be easily detached and re-potted in its own container.

Step 3: Get your terrarium ready. So I've looked through Pinterest and reasearched the best way to build a home for the succulents, many of them require a lot of extra materials.

I start by filling the bottom of my jar with rocks, pebbles or anything that will enable extra water to flow down. This is super important because succulents don't require much water, and too much could kill them (they are dessert plants). The next layer would be dirt, which I have used from my potted succulent. This layer is when you would start planting your succulents. An added step is that you could add rocks above the dirt creating a ayers effect which is super cool.

I love DIYs because making something and being creative is actually very relaxing.

Thanks for stopping by!

Sincerely,
