Vancouver - A Voyage To The City

Hey! So this summer has been a little more chill because I'm moving, but I still wanted to go on a short getaway, so I went on a short trip to Vancouver! I'm super thankful for living in the West coast because there is so much that mother nature has to offer.

I'm in Vancouver quite a lot, but I've never actually taken the time to explore what the city had to offer in regards to its tourist hotspots. I thought I'd share a few of my must-see places and some fun tips for those who wish to visit this thriving city!

Places to see:

1. The Olympic Cauldron: Although Vancouver held the winter olympics a while back, their olympic torch sits in Waterfront with a view that overlooks North Vancouver and the Costal Mountains. What makes this region of the West so fascinating is its unique landscape.

2. Capilano Suspension Bridge: If you're afraid of heights, this one may not be for you. I'm not big on heights, but it was a cool experience and I got an amazing view! ;)

3. Granville Island: Granville Island is home to a farmers market, sail boats and beer. As the Emily Carr University sits in the centre, theres no doubt that its home to art and amazing craftsmanship! This was one of my favourite places to go. Nothing is better than enjoying drinks and relaxing with an amazing landscape.

4. Waterfront: This was another favourite. I love architecture and I love the seeing the differences in structures among cities. Its what gives each city personality. A drive through Vancouver's downtown will give you a sense of the everyday life of a busy individual. Waterfront is home to Canada place and overlooks the downtown core, where you can take in the beauty the city has to offer.

5. Science World, BC Place and Rogers Arena: Science world is a must see because of its unique structure. I has always reminded me of a golf ball, but it too sits on the water and its a great place to chill and relax and really take in the landscape.

6. Richmond Night Market: This is what makes Vancouver stand out. Every summer Richmond hosts a weekend night market that homes a variety of food, clothing, tech and accessory vendors.

Eat:

When in Vancouver, finding great places to eat is my objective. Vancouver is such a diverse city and offers a  huge range of amazing types of food. (It is a foodies' dream)

1. Cafe Medina: Although I have not yet tried this place, I've heard amazing thing, so as a foodie of course this is on my list of things to do in Vancouver.

2. Le Petit Belge: If you have a sweet tooth or craving something savoury, I'm loving the cute little waffle place I found on Yelp.

3. Granville Island Brewery: I love just sitting and relaxing over drinks and this place is just a super casual place to rest and hangout.

Where to shop:

Shopping is one of the main reasons I go to Vancouver. (Vancouver is the place to be for handbag-obsessed girls like me! haha)

1. Burrard St.: This street is like Rodeo Drive in LA, its where the high end designers have set up shop. Or you could go to just window shop.

2. Richmond Center: Amongst the craze in Richmond, this is my go-to mall for shopping when I'm in Vancouver. It's convenient because its out of the municipality of Vancouver, but its still large enough that theres great shopping and food. It's convent for travellers who wants to catch the ferry to Vancouver Island.

3. Pacific Center: At the heart of downtown, and the centre of all the action. Here you'll find Nordstrom and Holt Renfrew. Also super convent as the sky train stops at this mall.

4. Robson St.: When you wanna get outdoors to enjoy the city, Robson Street is great for shopping and full of restaurants.

5. Metrotown: Metrotown is in Burnaby and if your feet are not yet sore from walking and exploring, Metrotown is a great pitstop to do a bit of shopping and resting.

6. McGlen Arthur: Feeling like doing some outlet shopping? This is a newer outlet by the Vancouver airport and has discounted items from Coach, Banana Republic and Nike to name a few.

I will be updating this page frequently as I venture to Vancouver super often. The city is so big and there are always new adventures that awaits ;)

Have you ever been to Vancouver? If so, do you have any recommendations?

Thanks for reading!

Sincerely,
