Finding Your Personal Style

Personal Style

Today I'm going to talk about finding your own personal style. I was never always a girly girl, or was ever into fashion growing up. I was actually more of a tom boy stealing my father's shirts and wearing oversized hoodies to school everyday.

Now, being stylish doesn't need to cost a fortune, nor does it mean you have to look a certain way. It's not about slpurging on the latest designer item and it doesn't mean you have to follow a certain trend to be 'modern.' It is all about expressing who you are, and how you want to present yourself to the world and stage in front of you.

I never really got into fashion until I was out of high school. High school can be a real hard place for someone to develop their sense of style because there is a constant pressure of looking a certain way.

Getting out of high school I now have the power to express my creativity in the forms that I want without any limitations.

I always feel that if I take the time to get up and get dressed everyday, I'm in a position where I am putting my best foot forward for everyone and I'm ready to take on every challenge. Getting dressed and looking great makes me confident, makes me feel my best so I can achieve the best.

Here are my tips:

1) Love yourself.

The point of finding your style is not to transform you into what society wants, it is to make you more confident in your own skin. You need to fully accept yourself and be happy first because fashion is a form of expressive art.

2) Find ways to accentuate what you love about your body.

You know your body the best, so find ways to emphasize the great parts about it. Lets also be real here, we all have insecurities and things we may want to hide, and there are pieces and techniques to do so. Remember, fashion is about making you confidents, so you can put your best foot forward.

3) Find inspiration.

This is the fun part, I always love looking at pictures and finding inspiration in the little things in life. This is the time where you can look at blogs and read magazines and be inspired by others. I'm not really a Tumblr girl, I use We Heart It. If you have never heard of it, it is essentially like Tumblr, but slightly easier. Tumblr is a blogging platform, We Heart It is mainly for pictures and a great place to easily find inspiration.

4) Not every trend is worth following.

My biggest tip is not to follow 'all the latest trends.' Trends will go out of style, but your personality will never.

5) Pick and choose what you like.

When I go shopping, I always try to keep in mind if the piece reflects who I am or if i can wear it to showcase who I am.

6) Find colours that suit you.

There is a certain colour pallet that can compliment your skin tone, eyes and hair colour. For me, because I have black hair, an olive skin tone, and dark brown eyes, I look best in jewel tones. Therefore, I try to find richer colours like ruby reds, emerald greens, and sapphire blues.

Sometimes you like something, but it doesn't come in the colour that suits you. If you really like it, I say go for it, but you can always hold a piece against your arm to see if it will compliment your skin tone.

7) Find silhouettes that work well with your figure.

Flattering cuts will always help you in emphasizing parts you like about your body, while hiding your insecurities. (This can be a post in itself)

Winter Textures and a Femine Silhouette

Merry Christmas! I hope everyone is having a fantastic day and received everything they wanted from Santa this year :)! Gifting and finding the perfect gift for someone is my favourite part of the holiday season! It's so rewarding to see the reaction of the receiver and have them absolutely love their gift!

As I grow older, I don't find the need to ask for gifts because I have everything that I really want. I love browsing and buying gifts for others, but this holiday isn't about the gifts and material items. Its about the stories behind the gifts and spending time with people you care about.

I hope everyone had a relaxing and have shared amazing memories with loved ones.

Christmas in Sin City

Happy Holidays! I hope everyone is enjoying time with beloved friends and family as well as resting and relaxing! This holiday I was lucky enough to venture to one of the most extravagant and fun places in the world, Las Vegas.

I've been to Vegas 3 times now and each time I find myself finding new places to eat and new things to see. They say Vegas is the city that never sleeps, well it is true!

Thanks for stopping by! Happy holidays!

21

So a few weekends ago I celebrated my 21st birthday! One year older means in more year wiser. this year i actually have much to celebrate about, I love birthdays because its a time where I can see all of my closest friends at once. As I grow older I apreciate the time I share with loved ones more and more.

This year has changed a lot, I've learned to build a life of my own. I've let go of bad, and unhealthy relationships and learned to make the best and make a life full of positivity. I'm growing my empire and my success and have lived and enjoyed every minute of it.

I'm so fortunate, I'm happy and humble.

I'm so thankful that my hobby of blogging is growing and that my posts are being viewed from all around the world. I'm so thanks full I can share my hobby with you guys.

Thanks for reading and the continuous support!

Fancy Outtings: Winter Edition

Fancy Outtings: Winter Edition
Getting invited to some fancy winter outings and you have no idea what to wear? You've come to the right blog post! I love holiday season because its a great time to wear sparkle and have an excuse to dress a little more fancy than usual.

I've alway been a fan of jeweled-tones and this is the perfect season to complement them.

My favourites for this season are:

1) Classic with the LBD: A black dress should be a staple in ever closet as it is so versatile for all outings and any season. This holiday, pair it with coloured heels and a textured clutch to add interest.

2) Contemporary with a Shift Dress: Shift dresses are great especially during the holiday season when there is an incentive to eat amazing food. Shift dresses are very modern and very comfortable. I'm especially loving ones with a high neckline.

3) Girly with Lace: the holiday season is the perfect season to play with lace and sparkles. As the dress is such a statement itself, I would pair it with a simple pair of strappy heels so it does not over-power the dress.

4) Sweater Dress: Sweater dresses are very trendy this season. Not only are they warm and cozy, they chic and a simple way to look more chic and put together. I like pairing these with a trench coat or a long wool coat.

Tips:

*When working with solid colours, fun accessories help to add texture and interest
*Lace-up heels look best with shorter dress/skirts because it does not cut off the legs.

What would you wear to a fun holiday outing? I'd love to hear from you!
