Currently Yearning

It's Monday... Here is some inspiration to get us through the week. I'm a lover of luxury, and here are some of the items I'm currently lusting over.

I'm currently loving smaller wallets as they are not only compact and lighter, but it prevents me from carrying unnecessary cards that I don't regularly need. I'm loving this.

If you have been following me for a while, you would know I'm a handbag fanatic. Here are a few I'm currently coveting: this Prada and this one shown above; the Diorama.

We must also emphasize the beauty in these Valentino Rockstud flats and this Balmain blazer. I'm also lusting over this Balmain sweater and this jacket by Givenchy is gorg!

Hey there lovelies! I hope you are all having a great Friday and start to the weekend!

Right now it is sort of that awkward phase when the holiday season is over, but most of us are in the midst of a cold winter.

Most years, I feel very uninspired around this time because once we pass christmas my mind starts getting ready for spring and light layers, but nope! Winter continues to linger on.

This time around, why not incorporate the colours of winter with the colours of spring and find a middle ground to keep us inspired and make life still super fun!

The baby blues of spring pairs amazingly with the burgundy tones of winter.

I'm super thankful for whole foods, which has supplied me with endless amounts of hydrangeas throughout the winter. Yes, it is freezing outside, but what is better than sipping hot chocolate by a fire with a view of hydrangeas? (quite possibly the best thing ever!)

Winter Favourites

Although winter is not entirely over, and it's still below zero in many places in the world. I'm luckily enough to finally buy tulips and transition out of winter. Here are some of my favourites for this past few months.

This season was all about the long structureless coats. I have a few from the season and I literally wore them everyday. They were my go-to pieces as they were not only warm, but they were also super stylish without even trying (who doesn't like to put in little effort, but get great results right?!). I really loved greys and beiges this season because they were different form black on black on black.

I was also obsessed with maroons and cranberries for the season. Theres someone about that colour that I love; probably the fact that you could wear it like a neutral colour. It's not bold like jewel tones, but not boring like you typical black and whites.

This was a season of black hats, sweater dresses, high necks, and booties. I've been obsessed with the  contemporary and modern look recently. As I get older, I'm more drawn to simpler pieces. Shapeless pieces are also much comfortable!

White Chocolate Mochas, penguin socks (cutesy christmas socks) and warm faux fur throws were a stable this season.

For beauty products: When I had the time to do my nails my go-to colour was either Red or a cranberry shade. I also discovered the Korres primer and can need live with out it. Unfortunalty, it is not at Sephora's in Canada, but possibly in a selection of Shopper Drug Marts!

Pairing Midi Skirts (for petites)

Happy Saturday everyone and I hope all is well! Today, lets talk about midi skirts.

I have been loving the midi skirt trend since the beginning of this year. I think it is so feminine, classy and gives off some great retro vibes! However, sometimes they can be a little hard to pull off.

For me, as a petite girl, its hard to find a midi skirt that actually flatters my height. Sometimes these skirts can overwhelm my figure and actually make me look shorter, that is why it is important for me to find one that hits just right above the knee.

A crop top paired with a midi skirt adds an element of interest, that makes these skirts less conservative.

I think midi skirts are great because you can dress them up for a night out by adding a pair of strappy heels or dress them down for a casual everyday outfit by pairing them with flats.

For the fall, I would pair more flared midi skirts with a cropped jacket. For less flared skirts a long knee-length coat is great!

Sunday is for Brunching (Pairing Colourful Pants)

I am definitely a breakfast girl. I love trying new places for breakfast and it is such a great time to share a few laughs with friends.

This pairing is inspired by the evergreen tress in autumn as well as the cute layers for the colder months.

I love pairing neutrals with any pop of colour and vice versa. Leather is such a great versatile piece for the cooler months, adding a touch of roughness and style.

My go-to tip for playing with colourful pants are using neutrals. You can never go wrong with whites, creams, greys and blacks. This is a subtle way to add colour, but not being extra bold or different.

Sometimes I like to pair bold colours with bold colours. They say opposites attract right? Well contrasting colours also pair exceptionally well together, even though they are on the opposite ends of the spectrum they are so different that they work. From this, you create an element of interest.

Prints also pair great when your playing with solid colours, textural elements can liven-up any outfit.

When you get to shoes, I love pairing colour pants with anything with straps (or shoes some skin). You are your own human canvas ;) and by wearing strappy shoes it makes the transition from colourful pants to shoes less harsh.

I hope these tips help, but at the end of the day fashion and style is about how we want to dress. It's not about following trends, its about how we want to express ourselves.
