23 Things You Didn't Know About Me

Hey there lovelies! I recently celebrated my 23rd birthday and thought I'd share 23 facts you did not know about me, so we can get to know each other a little better.

1) I love Penguins. I have a giant penguin named Pippy and I live for penguin everything. I also love the Pittsburgh Penguins, which came before the penguin obsession. HA!

2) My favourite Disney movies growing up were The Lion King, Simba's Pride, and The Little Mermaid. Don't forget High School Musical; I knew all the words and had posters of Zac Efron all over my room.

3) I am a huge Marvel fan. I love Iron Man and Captain America. I have a collection of Funko Pops dedicated to my love of Marvel.

4) My dream handbag is a vintage Chanel.

5) I have a Bachelors Degree in the Social Sciences, where I majored in Political Science and History.   My history major specialized in American History.

6) I am a coffee snob. I live for good quality locally roasted coffee.

7) My favourite meal is breakfast. I love brunch; its like I get to sleep-in and have my breakfast too!

8) I love seafood. I would almost always pick salmon and tuna over chicken and steak any day.

9) My favourite TV shows (from the past and present) are: Suits, Gossip Girl, Sex and the City, The Hills, How To Get Away with Murder, Game of Thrones and the Bachelor franchises.

10) My favourite flowers are hydrangeas, tulips and peonies.

11) When I was little I played the violin, piano and guitar; though, I failed miserably at all.

12) I haven't eaten anything from McDonalds for 7 years.

13) I was not at all into fashion growing up. I was always the deep kid who wore an orange puma vest, DC Shoes and baggy pants. I have always been creative, but did not get into fashion until my first year of university.

14) My girl crushes and gals who have inspired me are: Lauren Conrad, Olivia Culpo, Wendy from Wendy's Lookbook, Julia from Gal Meets Glam and Claire Chanelle from iamchouquette.

15) I prefer sweet over savoury. I am a sucker for desserts. I love macrons, cheesecake, and creme brûlée.

16) My favourite city/place that I have travelled to has to be New York City. It was a dream.

17) My first designer handbag was the Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC -- black with gold hardware.

18) I am a neat freak and I am extremely organized.

19) I am full Chinese and I know how to fluently speak my family dialect, Teochew.

20) I love stationary. My favourite place to get stationary from is Riffle Paper Co.

21) I taught myself how to cut hair, so I normally cut and dye my own hair.

22) I love throwing Pinterest parties. I love crafts and DIYs as well as throwing parties, so I combine all the elements.

23) And finally... I'm a shorty! At an incredible 5'2, I live life unable to reach anything!

I hope you learned something about me, I'd love to know a fun fact about you! leave me a comment!

Blowing in the Wind - Red and Grey

Hey there lovelies , sorry I missed a post on my blog! It feels like forever since I posted! It was my birthday weekend and was filled with my favourite things. I spent most of it eating macrons and having dinners with my friends and family. I happened to capture a ton of dreamy moments to share with you guys, so stay tuned!

I made it my mission this fall to stock up on really versatile and high quality knitwear. Ones that were not only trendy, but investment pieces that last me years to come.

I am super guilty for being someone who loved stockpiling kits during a winter clearance event. I used to love browsing through the sale in Forever 21 for warm sweaters that had a great disccount, but I never would reached for them in my closet after that initial wear. That $10 sweater just sits in my closet season after season because I also did not feel great in them. Through out the years I've learned to invest my money in high quality pieces and sweaters I would be excited to wear almost everyday.

Here are some of my favourites sweater picks:
J.O.A. - Wilfred - Club Monaco - Nordstrom - Club Monaco - Wilfred Free - AllSaints - Wilfred Free - Babaton - Nordstrom

Here are my outfit details:
Sweater: H&M
Bottoms: H&M
Jacket: Banana Republic (old)

City Gal - Tweed, Ivory and Black

Hey lovelies! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. I know everyone hates Mondays and the start of a new work week, but what keeps my motivated are the small little tokens of inspiration I can add to my day. (i.e., buy myself a latte or treat myself to a bouquet of flowers or even the cute red lipstick I've been eyeing)

I think it is really important to treat yourself on occasions to keep you fuel and motivated, especially on the days where I feel uninspired and blah. We all have them, those days where its rainy, miserable and things don't go your way, or even a chunk of time where you don't really know what you want. I've learned not to take time for granted and not to live each day to the fullest. This is why I do special things for myself, so I remember to appreciate the little things.

Jacket: H&M (another option here and here)

One Outfit Two Ways - Sleek Black Number

Hey lovelies! I'm doing something a little different today to show case how versatile your outfits can be. With a simple belt I can completely change the same outfit into two different looks. What I love about fashion and styling is that it makes me think outside of the box. As a blogger what is important to me is re-wearing items and re-styling pieces I already have, by introducing a new accessory or a jacket to spice things up. This is important not only through a sustainability lens, but its also really practical. Once I have my wardrobe basics (you can see my must have wardrobe basics here), new items I buy get integrated with those basics to build a wardrobe. For ever season, I buy fun new timeless and trendy pieces that I can pair with existing items.

Blazer: H&M (similar here)
Belt: H&M (similar here)
Top: H&M (similar here)

A Twist on the Classic T-Shirt and Denim Skirt Pairing

Hey there lovelies! I've fell in love with light denim and grey recently. This neutral colour story is kind of everything. There is something super chic about pairing light neutrals together and it is fun getting out of my comfort zone of wearing blacks and whites. Can we also take the time to admire this adorable top? This gorgeous t-shirt from Banana Republic is not only luxe in material, but add as girly comfortable touch to an outfit and defiantly softens the edginess of this skirt. I love finding cute basics with interesting details to them.
