Time to Keep Track - What Blogging has Taught Me

Hey darling,

A few more months and this blog is gearing up for its 3rd Birthday. When I first started blogging, it was me, a point and shoot camera, and my mom. I had no idea what role lighting had to play in photos, or what camera lens were. Through trial and error, I have definitely come a long way since then. Though, there is always still room for improvement. 

Here are FIVE things I have learned from the few years of blogging:

1. The Magic of Golden Hour - Golden hour consists of the period in which the sunrises and the period where the sun sets. During this time, sunlight is the least harsh and creates effective conditions to allow you to make the best us of your natural lighting source. 

2. Cloudy Days are better than Sunny Days - This idea plays off of golden hour. Since golden hour creates the best possible conditions for a naturally light shoot, cloudy days are the same sort of idea.  A day full of the share rays of the sun makes lighting conditions harsh and difficult to work with. Cloudy days soften natural lighting and makes great conditions for a shoot. 

3. Lenses Matter - Depending on what your area of focus is, it is extremely important to find a lens that will complement your work. This means that if you want to do landscape photography a portrait lens is probably not what you would opt for. For standard portraits and flat lays, I love my 50mm lens. 

4. Originality - Now and again I love looking at other bloggers' work to attain inspriation and ideas. However, I have learned that it is really important to stand out from the crowd and focus on growing and mastering your own work. This also goes for Instagram, and all your social media pages. For me it is less about the follow base and more about owning my individuality, my creativity and my expression. 

5. Ambition - For me having ambition is your willingness to learn, to take criticism and to grow. There are times where I feel uninspired by my clothes of from my photography techniques, and this is when I necessitate a new challenge. New challenges in equipment, lenses and techniques help me improve the quality of my content.

Spring and Things

Hey there lovelies!

This post is inspired by the pastel pallet of the spring season and the evergreens of the Pacific Northwest.

Blush pink has become one of my favourite colours and as I have gotten older, I have regain my admiration towards pinks. My current wardrobe pallet consist of neutrals -- light greys, creams and blush pinks. Blush pink is the girl boss colour. The perfect way to add a feminine touch to a pant suit and a classic neutral in replacement of whites and blacks.

Romance

I think romance is about the details. The the charming subtle details, and the feelings of admiration that go along with them. Romance is in the soft pinks and the delicate hues. The song of the soul and the love for life itself. Romance is the inner tender vulnerability of oneself.

February is the month to celebrate love, wether you have a significant other or not. I like taking this time to reflect on things I love or admire. I feel like there is too much emphasis on love between two people, but rather we should take this time to celebrate love for humanity and love for ourselves. If you have followed me for a long time, you'd know that I place much emphasis on independence and appreciating oneself (through reflection, gratitude and treating oneself). I feel that this takes away the commercialization of love and relationships and creates a deeper meaning we can all appreciate.

Happy New Year

Hey there lovelies! I just wanted to take this time and celebrate the new year with you guys for second and tell you guys how grateful I am for that you come back to see my new posts. It is so crazy to see the growth of this blog since the beginning of the year and I want to thank you for the continued support. When I started this, I thought it was a platform that I could reminisce on outfits I have styled and share styling tips with two of my friends, now I have made great friends from all of the world. This is unbelievable to me! I wake up all the time in disbelief because it still blows my mind that you take the time to read and listen to what I have to say.
