Mixing Denims and Tweed - Telling You My Secret

Hey lovelies! Happy Monday!

Today was one of those mornings where I simply (for the life of me) could not find anything to wear. The struggle is real, am I right? As it was a shoot day, you would think I had something planned, but the truth is... I normally do not plan my outfits. I'll let you in on my secret.. I normally pick out what I want to wear the morning of. Sometimes I pull out pieces that I want the shoot to be focused around, but I wing it as I go. I have a rack of new clothes that I can choose from to make the process easier because they are pieces I haven't shot yet, but I normally go through a bunch of outfits until one looks right and chic enough to shoot. I mean, if I'm going to be indecisive and change my mind anyway, might as well save myself the trouble and style my outfit in the morning of! HA! And yes, I do take forever to get ready.

Here are my outfit details:
Top: Dynamite (similar here)
Jacket: H&M (similar here)
Bottoms: Forever 21 (distressed it myself) (similar here)
Booties: Zara (also love these and these)

Suede Biker Jacket and Friday Lattes

Hey there lovelies! Happy Friday!

One of best moments during the winter months is enjoying a warm latte at a local coffee shop. I've recently discovered and fell in love with the rustic vibes of local rosters and I think is it such a great way to support a local business. I love feeling productive doing my work, while sipping on a warm latte, or sharing laughs with friends in these settings. The amazing coffee choices on the west coast has sort of turned me into a coffee snob. HA!

Here are my outfit details:

Sweater: Old Navy (similar here and here)
Faux Suede Jacket: H&M (similar here, here and here)(also love this biker jacket and this one)

Asymmetric Trench and a Classic Red Lip

Hey there lovelies! I found this trench coat during the Boxing Day sale at Banana Republic and it was like love at first sight. It is in collaboration with Olivia Palermo and she nailed it! I love how this is not your average trench coat; I'm obsessed with the asymmetrical hem line and the side button detailing. A bonus is the flared sleeves, in which I can wear ruffle sleeve sweaters under without it bunching up. This jacket is totally a statement on its own and can be an accent to complement a statement dress or top.

Here are my outfit details:

Top: H&M - just a basic V-neck (similar here and here)
Bottoms: H&M
Booties: Zara (also love this pair and this pair)
Earrings: Call It Spring (Dior inspired) (more options here and here)

Romance

I think romance is about the details. The the charming subtle details, and the feelings of admiration that go along with them. Romance is in the soft pinks and the delicate hues. The song of the soul and the love for life itself. Romance is the inner tender vulnerability of oneself.

February is the month to celebrate love, wether you have a significant other or not. I like taking this time to reflect on things I love or admire. I feel like there is too much emphasis on love between two people, but rather we should take this time to celebrate love for humanity and love for ourselves. If you have followed me for a long time, you'd know that I place much emphasis on independence and appreciating oneself (through reflection, gratitude and treating oneself). I feel that this takes away the commercialization of love and relationships and creates a deeper meaning we can all appreciate.

Romantic Fringe and Dark Layers

Hey there lovelies! Happy Wednesday! It was a perfect makeup day -- Don't you just love those?!

Can we just take a minute to admire this beautiful sweater from Club Monaco? I love it so much, that I happen to own it in two colours. I have always been a huge fan of subtle feminine details and the top does not disappoint. I have been loving the feather/fringe trend for seasons now and I have yet to score the perfect feather skirt, but this sweater is fulfilling my feather desires.

I love scoring finds like these because it adds something unique and girly to my wardrobe. It is simple enough to be worn under a wool coat and black denim and can be totally dressed with a pencil skirt and heels. I love how it adds an element of texture, without making the outfit too glam. The brown Chloe bag adds a perfect touch of earthy tones to make this look more casual.

Here are my outfit details:

Top: Club Monaco
Coat: H&M (similar here and here)
Blazer: H&M (similar here)
Bottoms: Forever 21 (distressed it myself) (similar here)
Booties: Zara (also love these and these)
Ring(s): H&M (similar here); Oak + Fort (also love this and this)
